

This is a delicious fish soup, very easy to make. You can use any fish you like to this recipe. Deboned fish is better for soup.
INGREDIENTS
1 and 1/2 pounds of deboned fish pieces
1 tablespoon of fresh ginger julienned
2 tablespoons of fresh garlic paste
1 red onion sliced
1 serrano or 2 green chili deseeded and sliced
1 bell pepper of any color, sliced and sautéed
1 teaspoon of garam masala
1 teaspoon of black pepper powder
1/2 teaspoon of cumin powder
1/4 teaspoon of turmeric powder
1/8 teaspoon of cayenne powder or chili powder
salt to taste
juice of half a lemon
1 tablespoon ghee/butter
5 tablespoons of olive oil or any oil of your preference
4 cups or more of hot water
PREPARATION
Place the fish pieces in a bowl and add black pepper powder and a teaspoon of lemon juice. Allow it to marinate for 5 minutes.
In a deep sauce pan add the ghee/butter and when it is heated add the onion and ginger pieces and the sliced serrano and fry them well till they turn slightly brown. Now add the garlic paste and fry all the ingredients together.
Add the fish pieces to this mixture in the hot pan and add 4 tablespoons of oil and salt to taste and mix the fish pieces in the hot mixture and oil. Add the spice powders, turmeric, cumin, garam masala, cayenne pepper and mix well. Keep in hot flame for 2 minutes. Now pour 4 cups of hot water and reduce the heat to medium low. Allow the fish to cook for another minute in the soup.
Now add the sliced and sautéed bell pepper pieces to the soup and allow the soup to simmer for 1 more minute. Add the juice of the remaining lemon.
Taste and adjust salt, heat and sour taste. Remove , pour into a bowl and enjoy your delicious soup.
