Flax seeds provide protein, fiber and omega 3 fatty acids. It is said that they help in lowering blood cholesterol and reduce the risk of heart disease.
Flax seeds also help to improve digestive health and relieve constipation. I found them to be very good for my keto diet. So I tried making bread with golden flax seed meal.
Since I am on intermittent fasting and keto diet, I did have problems with constipation. After much research, I included some good probiotics, digestive enzymes and good source of fiber to help regularize my digestive system.
This delicious flax seed bread satisfies my craving to eat bread and also it helps me to get fiber in my diet. It is excellent in regulating the digestive system.
This is a very simple but tasty recipe.
INGREDIENTS
1 1/2 cups of golden flax seed meal
4 tablespoons of psyllium husk powder
2 teaspoons of baking powder
1/2 teaspoon of salt
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon onion powder (optional)
2 tablespoons of olive oil
1/2 tablespoon of vinegar
1 1/2 cup of hot water
1 teaspoon of white sesame seeds (optional)
PREPARATION
Preheat oven to 350 degrees
In a mixing bowl add all the dry ingredients and mix them well with a spatula. Now add the vinegar and mix well, then add the oil and mix well with your spatula.
To this mixture add hot water and stir immediately with your spatula till a dough mass is formed. Make a smooth dough ball with a little olive oil.
Place this dough ball on a prepared cookie tray and spread the teaspoon of white sesame seeds on top of the dough ball.
Now bake in the preheated oven for 45-50 minutes.
Your delicious flax seed bread is ready. Remove form oven, slice when it cools down and enjoy with your favorite chutney of pesto.
